Ronnie Ricketts in Action at the COC's 12th Founding Anniversary

Ronnie Rickets: the fierce OMB Chairman

Action star and now the Optical Media Board chairman, Ronnie Rickets is on a serious task of eradicating the growing potential of piracy and illegal selling of DVD’s through his “Bawal Mangopya” campaign. According to him, the Philippines were put in the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) watch list in 2012over reports of rampant piracy of movies, music, and computer software. Being on the IIPA watch list meant the country faced possible economic and trade sanctions from IIPA members. What did Rickets and his team did different this time? They are now on a series of touring campuses and universities to promote the campaign and educate the young people why piracy is a must to be completely eradicated. Moreover, he’s also asking assistance and help for monitoring the effectiveness of their campaign just like what he did during his visit on the 12th founding anniversary of the College of Communication. Rickets was confident that the COC community and the rest of the universities would support his advocacy.
